U.S. regulators have asked nine companies that specialize in collecting information about consumers and sell these data provide information about their business practices, said the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Tuesday.
Brokers data, generally companies with which consumers never interact directly, came into the spotlight in recent years due to the large amount of medical information, financial and personal character that can be obtained online activities.
The companies were contacted by the FTC Acxiom, CoreLogic, Datalogix, eBureau, ID Analytics, PeekYou, Raplead and Recorded Future, the FTC said.
